Emma Bale
Emma Bale was only seventeen when she became the youngest artist ever to win a MIA Award for Best Female Solo Artist in 2016. Back then she was a delicate teenager with an acoustic guitar, known for heartfelt songs like “Fortune Cookie” with Milow and “Run”, remixed by Lost Frequencies. What began as the story of a shy singer-songwriter soon became the journey of a young artist finding her own voice.
Over the years Emma has evolved into a confident performer with a clear sense of direction. Her appearance at Rock Werchter in 2018 already revealed what was ahead. As De Morgen wrote at the time, “Emma Bale is steadily growing into a credible pop star. You’ll be hearing more from her.” They were right.
With her 2024 album 333, Emma showed who she truly is. The record moves effortlessly between English, Dutch and touches of French, reflecting her layered, intuitive nature.
Her sound has matured into a rich blend of pop, indie and neo-soul, evoking the warmth and individuality of artists like Norah Jones, Sade, Clairo and Olivia Dean. Following 333, Emma’s evolution was recognised with a MIA nomination for Best Pop.
