sura sol

sura sol (born rachel solomon, 35) is a truly unclassifiable artist. brusseleir at heart, with mixed origins from three continents - the united states, eastern europe and north africa - running through their veins, they gleefully blur genres. under their fingers and voice, lullabies become incantations, poems turn to rap, and blues flirts with opera. with an underlying freak folk touch and wandering jew-ish harmonies, sura’s music slips into your ears, tickling, caressing, shaking, piercing. With a very raw set up of mostly just voice and guitar, they bring us back to some basics of what truly matters: the details that make life worth living, the bravery to dare to create, playfulness, the bodily sensations, the daily gestures that forge connections beyond walls, borders and seas.

after having co-founded, released an ep and two albums, and toured for years all over europe and beyond with the band las lloronas, sura - artist in residence at botanique since 2026 - is now free birding on a yet more intimate and daring musical career. after their debut solo album ‘roar’ in 2022, and the experimental EP ‘breaking the silence’ in 2024, they released ‘i will be dead’, their second full fleshed album, in the spring of 2026. this new album sweeps us into a world that is gentle and jarring at the same time, through lyrics both intimate and political, poetic and sharp, it leaks a contagious hope and aliveness beyond and in response to the wars, violences and fascisms currently at stake.

sura sol: a sonic UFO, raw and authentic, an emotional tour de force brimming with humble, and overflowing generosity.
