What if Joy Division and Ekkstacy got lost in neon-soaked ‘90s HongKong? That’s what Pyo sounds like, the electrifying project of Brussels-based Karel Piot. Somewhere between Ekkstacy, Mareux, and The Haunted Youth, Pyo’s music is a blend of modern post-punk and the new wave sounds of the 1980s. In his retro cyberpunk universe, drenched in wavy dreams, Pyo reveals his direct and introspective lyrics. With over 1.3 million streams in his debut year, the Brussels artist has emerged as a post-punk powerhouse in Belgium and France. The Belgian press describes Pyo live: “Like a bouncing Duracell bunny, Pyo takes the stage and immediately sets the room on fire with his fast post-punk sound.” After a first wave of successful singles such as “Midnight Sunlight” and “So Tired,” Pyo toured in France, Belgium, South Korea and for the first time in Japan.
